| Few if any will argue the wisdom of the old saying, "You gotta have friends;" however, not many of us can claim the legacy of friendship that has blessed David Parmley. It's not as if Parmley hasn't been able to carve a musical niche of his own; he's one of the most respected names in bluegrass with a career that encompasses both history and new directions. However, it's inevitable that in a career that has crossed so many paths and touched so many lives, a lot of friendships are made and kept. As such, on this much anticipated solo release from Parmley, you'll hear contributions from Mike Anglin, Danny Barnes and Steve Day (all from Continental Divide), Ben Greene, Russell Moore, Steve Gulley, Larry Stephenson, Jim Hurst, Missy Raines, Adam Steffey, Aubrey Haynie, Glen Duncan, Del and Ronnie McCoury and Randy Kohrs ... in essence, a jumpstart on any "who's who" list of contempory bluegrass! As for the music, Parmley has utilized all this amazing talent to create an album of a dozen bluegrass gospel tracks that stand with the best recordings of our day, regardless of genre. As stated in the liner notes, "...a beautiful volume of bluegrass gospel music has been added. Meant to cover a wide range of musical tastes and religious beliefs, the overall thought provoking, positive message shines through." And shines brightly, we might add. While this solo effort was a long time in coming, we think you'll agree that this one was worth the wait. You'll pardon us, we hope, if we're not all that surprised at how good this album is... after all, when you take the vision and leadership of a David Parmley, back that with some of the best working muscians in the business and apply all those efforts to great songs that deliver such an uplifting message, the results really couldn't be anything but spectacular.
